Final Reflection

What I learned in English 11000 was being able to express myself and reflect on past moments and importing that by doing an activity on writing translating my essay into a video which was a fun and an enjoyable  assignment because I had the opportunity  turning my language and literacy narrative essay into a 3 minute video i created on the laptop and presented  to the class to share on what my experience was on language and literacy being in your life. To be honest, this is like something I unlearned but when the fall term first started I legitimately thought this was going to be a regular English class where you read books and multiple choice answers + writing, And  this class made me be more open minded in my writing instead of feeling lost. Further, I also learned how to communicate well with other students compared to high school where I would talk low, I felt more comfortable and sharing my work

During 12th grade I had a similar ELA class like this but we would do more reading stories that were boring to me which wasn’t enjoyable plus we  did writing and summarizing about the story which sucked. On the other hand, when it came to  writing in high school, the class for the assignments would be confusing and difficult because I wasn’t sure on what to write about and I often  asked for help in  class to help me think of something, when it comes to writing i don’t want to make it feel emotional or prideful, that’s just not my type of writing to be honest, i am more of a laid back/ grounded person. For me, a skill I learned during this class is  the instructions  given to me on how to write a cover letter, or creating  a portfolio website which was unique. I haven’t done those things before and sharing my work online for others to see was great and very unique. On top of that, I don’t see how  I “improved” when it comes to my progress on writing during this class. But one thing I might have improved on for myself  is not being shy? I guess and developing my confidence because when i discussed  about the mask part and how i had it on from 9th to 12th grade school years in high school and how heavily it affected me, here’s a text from the language and literacy draft in the 4th paragraph  when i was discussing about it i stated  “Leading up to the project i was kinda nervous, especially speaking  because during highschool i had a mask on for  4 years, which made speaking in front of others more challenging, like speaking loud so they can hear me despite having my face covered. Throughout high school I wore a mask because of the covid pandemic and I was very cautious”.

Just in mind, I’m still cautious even if I don’t wear my mask  usually when I was in high school, I just like to watch out for myself. However, on the  “Improvements” for progress and writing wise mainly… The work I have completed just looks the same to me in my opinion, and I’m not going to stress it cause I’ve done A LOT OF WRITING so far because  i have another class online where it’s  a music class where you write 2 600 essays on a college lecture video and 1 on a reading,  which bothers me a lot because sometimes i often felt burnt out on having two classes that deals with essays.  So I wrote too many essays for both classes. I could’ve left the music if I wanted to but as time moved on I forgot about it and just did the work ever since fall term. I have been busy writing a lot. But I managed to get the assignments submitted as soon as possible.  I learned how to manage my time on heavy writing assignments and being able to stay strong.

Moving on, this class made writing feel different for me in my opinion. When I was writing my essays I was more open minded on what I’m discussing. What I appreciate about the differences  from this ELA to previous education is that this class was  like a free writing course where you express yourself into ideas for an essay. Furthermore, what went on my mind when i was presenting my LLN final translation 2 on the video when it was shown on the projector  i was nervous on the inside, tapping on my legs a little, my heart was pumping too cause i never did something like this before, so it was an experience, i put lots of effort to make it look good and presentable  for the audience to watch.  On the Contrarary, what I really like the most from college writing compared to high school writing is that for college writing, it gives me more time and progress to think on what I want to write about. Therefore, while for high school the writing doesn’t give me the time and affordability to have on what to write, which leads to being left behind on the assignment. I learned that writing can be more personal and open and reflect on my own experiences
